Parking Services Attendant Agency: SUNY Cortland Occupational Category: Skilled Craft, Apprenticeship, Maintenance Salary: $34,312 annually (Grade 05) Employment Type: Full‑Time, Permanent Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (37.5 hrs/week); full‑time. Location: 21 Graham Avenue, Cortland, NY 13045 Job Summary The Parking Services Attendant provides critical operational support to the campus community by managing traffic flow, enforcing parking regulations, and ensuring building security. The role directs vehicle and pedestrian traffic at high‑volume intersections, patrols parking lots to issue citations, maintains parking meters, and assists with special event logistics and after‑hours coverage. Major Responsibilities Assist pedestrians in safely crossing high‑traffic locations throughout campus. Direct vehicular traffic to support pedestrian safety. Monitor campus parking lots for non‑compliant parking and issue tickets. Monitor ADA spaces, metered parking, and fire lanes for violations. Enforcement of parking rules focused on two parking lots on North Campus. Assist with special event parking management, including coverage outside normal hours. Set up and take down barricades, signage, and parking meters. Secure buildings throughout campus as directed by the police supervisor. Document incidents, safety concerns, and unusual occurrences accurately. Use equipment such as a traffic van, reflective gear, stop paddles, and radios. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Skill in safely directing pedestrian and vehicle traffic using hand signals, signs, and verbal instructions. Ability to monitor surroundings, recognize hazards, and respond proactively. Ability to de‑escalate tense situations calmly and professionally with drivers or pedestrians. Proficiency in documenting incidents and safety concerns. Minimum Qualifications Valid NYS driver’s license. Ability to stand or walk for long periods and work in inclement weather. Ability to lift up to 40 lb. Proficient in reading, speaking, and understanding English. Will be issued a body‑worn camera. Preferred Qualifications Experience in parking enforcement, security, event logistics, or traffic control, preferably on a campus. Knowledge of campus geography, buildings, and parking layouts.
