Home Health Aide / Caregiver

Job Type: Full-Time, Part-Time, Per Diem
Pay: Competitive hourly rate (based on experience and certifications)

Position Summary

The Home Health Aide/Caregiver provides non-medical personal care and supportive services to clients in their homes. This role helps clients maintain their independence by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and other essential support services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care, including:
  • Bathing
  • Grooming
  • Dressing
  • Toileting
  • Oral hygiene
  • Mobility and transfers
• Assist with ambulation and fall prevention.
• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding when needed.
• Perform light housekeeping duties, including:
  • Laundry
  • Changing bed linens
  • Vacuuming
  • Sweeping
  • Dishwashing
  • Organizing the client's living space
• Provide companionship and emotional support.
• Accompany clients to medical appointments, errands, and community activities.
• Monitor and report changes in the client's physical, emotional, or mental condition to the Care Coordinator or Nurse Supervisor.
• Remind clients to take medications as directed (medication reminders only; no medication administration unless authorized).
• Maintain accurate documentation of services provided.
• Follow individualized care plans.
• Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Observe all agency policies, infection control procedures, and safety standards.
• Maintain professional relationships with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Massachusetts Home Health Aide (HHA) Certification preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification welcomed.
• Previous caregiving or home care experience preferred but not required.
• Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and other pre-employment screenings as required by state regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate, dependable, patient, and trustworthy.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, stoop, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to assist clients with transfers and mobility.
• Ability to perform household tasks safely.
