Assistant Manager II

We’re seeking an Assistant Store Manager to join our team to help with store operations, customer service, and team development. Location & Compensation 183 S 18th St, East Orange, New Jersey 07018-3902Hourly pay: $19.00 – $19.75 Responsibilities Assist with store functions and day‑to‑day store activities Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns they may have Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor as needed and ensure seasonal areas of the store are maintained Perform opening and closing procedures as required Process all corporate directives, including Pull & Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and any additional communications related to store activities Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record‑keeping (including payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts), and loss prevention Maintain areas of the store, including a well‑stocked sales floor and organized stockroom, to company standards Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash Adhere to policies and procedures, including safety guidelines, and ensure all associate follow company policies Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop store associates Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment while maintaining professional and friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and ensuring all areas are neat and presentable Other duties as assigned Provide required background information for local licensing of alcohol and/or tobacco sales; failure to comply may lead to demotion or separation Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives required Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and handle frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required Ability to work in a high‑energy, team environment required Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills required Perks and Benefits Medical, pharmacy, dental, and vision insurance Employee Assistance Program Retirement plans Educational assistance And much more We are an equal‑opportunity employer committed to complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities.
