Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Telemetry/Medical Surgical unit. This position involves providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, focusing on the needs of adult patients, as well as a limited number of pediatric cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with various medical diagnoses, including post-surgical recovery, diabetes management, heart failure, hypertension, weakness, and oncology patients.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and health status, adjusting care plans as necessary.
  • Administer medication and treatments as prescribed, while ensuring the safety and comfort of patients.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Participate in patient and family education to support treatment plans and health promotion.
  • Float to other areas, including acute rehabilitation and geriatric psychiatric units, as needed.
Work Schedule

This position involves a 12-hour night shift with a commitment to work every other weekend. A minimum of 48 hours per week is guaranteed.

Requirements
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure with a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude and a commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse patient population, including experience with cultural sensitivity.
Patient Care Environment

The unit consists of 60 beds, primarily serving an adult population with a small percentage of pediatric cases. The RN to patient ratio is 5:1, ensuring quality and focused care.

  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Epic
  • IV Pumps: Alaris
Additional Information
  • Strict adherence to fingernail policies, with the prohibition of artificial nails for patient care staff.
  • The orientation includes a pass/fail examination. Resources will be provided to ensure successful completion of training.
