Job Summary #CA-KN The Home Infusion Biller ensures timely and accurate billing and processing of home infusion medical and pharmacy claims. This includes edit resolution, patient demographic analysis and correction, authorization/referral review, and claim attachments. Under general supervision, the biller applies acquired skills and professional concepts of healthcare billing and reimbursement to execute all stages of revenue cycle workflow for home infusion. The role involves revenue cycle functions such as system billing, reporting, support, charge capture, coding, insurance identification, data entry, billing, payment posting, refund processing, and collections. The biller may also follow-up on claims with commercial and government payors to ensure maximum reimbursement based on contracts and regulations. Minimum Qualifications Previous billing experience in a healthcare environment Skills in data management and analysis Billing and accounts receivable experience with analysis and management Sound decision‑making and goal setting ability Financial analysis and research skills for accounts receivable, revenue, and billing practices Ability to manage multiple assignments through prioritization and time management Exercise independent judgment, personal initiative, and responsibility for decision and action Produce high-quality deliverables with minimal direction Maintain security of confidential information, using judgment and discretion Demonstrate effective interpersonal, communication, and change‑management skills; communicate technical information at all levels Interpersonal and communication skills for technical and non‑technical personnel; proficiency in MS Office Experience managing and analyzing billing and accounts receivable processes Knowledge of billing codes: CPT, HCPCS, revenue codes, and ICD‑10 Broad job knowledge to perform full range of responsibilities independently Manage a heavy workload with changing priorities and tight deadlines Detail oriented with strong organizational and time‑management skills Manage insurance reimbursement from third‑party and government programs; keep abreast of contracts and requirements Good verbal and written communication; document and report clearly and concisely Collaborate in gathering data, identifying trends, and performing financial analysis of billing and denials Teamwork and assistance to co‑workers across business and clinical areas Knowledge of external resources for effective inquiry response Maintain interdepartmental communications Ensure compliance with internal policy and external regulations Proficiency in common database, spreadsheet, and presentation software Accurate basic arithmetic with calculator use Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related field and/or equivalent experience Home infusion billing and/or revenue cycle experience Experience with Medicare CMS billing guidelines Hospital facility claims billing experience Pharmacy billing experience (NCPDP D.0) EPIC revenue cycle experience Knowledge of home infusion billing and reimbursement for commercial, managed care, and governmental programs Knowledge of UCDH accounts receivable systems and online eligibility systems Key Responsibilities 30% – Billing/Rebilling of complex accounts 25% – Auditing, adjusting, and reconciliation 20% – Research 15% – Denials, appeals, and payor requests 10% – Special projects and miscellaneous tasks Department Overview UC Davis Health is a nationally recognized leader in high‑quality, patient‑centered care located in Sacramento. The team supports inpatient, outpatient, and infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and all purchasing, stores, and distribution functions. The UCDH Home Infusion Department delivers advanced home infusion care with a patient‑driven focus and partnership with physicians and other providers.
