Job Title: Yard Worker
Job Description
The Yard Worker receives, stores, and ships materials while safely operating equipment to support efficient yard operations. This role loads and unloads flatbed trucks, conducts basic testing and repair of equipment, and ensures accurate documentation of all shipping and receiving activities. The Yard Worker also delivers and sets up products according to work orders, maintains communication with dispatch, and helps maintain the overall organization, safety, and protection of the yard, vehicles, and equipment.
Responsibilities

• Receive, store, and ship materials in accordance with established procedures and reporting requirements.
• Pull, package, stage, and load outgoing shipments accurately and efficiently.
• Unload, unpack, and inspect incoming shipments, identifying and marking materials and placing them in designated storage areas.
• Conduct basic testing and repair of various equipment as needed.
• Deliver and set up products according to work orders, ensuring correct placement and configuration.
• Secure, load, and unload cargo safely on flatbed and other vehicles.
• Maintain radio or telephone contact with the dispatcher to receive delivery or pickup instructions and updates to scheduled routes.
• Maintain accurate logs of travel and cargo in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and ensure vehicles remain clean, presentable, and in good working condition.
• Safely operate sit-down forklifts and other appropriate equipment to move materials around the yard.
• Ensure efficient operating procedures, optimal space utilization, and proper maintenance and protection of facilities, materials, and equipment.
• Complete all shipping and receiving documentation and records accurately and in a timely manner.
• Ensure accurate identification and labeling of parts and materials.
• Perform general labor and yard work, including heavy lifting, loading, unloading, and organizing materials such as barriers and barricades.
• Follow all company safety rules, procedures, and applicable governmental regulations and participate in safety committees or initiatives as needed.

Essential Skills

• Experience with general labor and yard work in a physically demanding environment.
• Ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift.
• Experience with loading and unloading materials, including heavy lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Experience driving a flatbed truck preferred.
• Experience with city driving is a plus.
• Satisfactory driving record meeting company standards.
• Experience operating small hand tools.
• Ability to follow all company safety rules, procedures, and applicable governmental regulations.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate identification of parts and materials and completion of shipping and receiving documentation.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with dispatch, co-workers, and customers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in construction, yard operations, or similar general labor roles.
• Comfort working with barriers, barricades, and similar materials.
• Willingness to participate in safety committees or initiatives.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with dispatch.
• Strong organizational skills to support efficient space utilization and material flow.

Work Environment
This role is primarily outdoors in a very hot environment and involves frequent heavy lifting and physically demanding work. You will work in a yard setting focused on construction-related materials such as barriers and barricades, with regular loading and unloading of trucks. The position requires operating sit-down forklifts and handling materials and equipment throughout the day. You can expect a hands-on, active workday that centers on safe material handling, vehicle loading and unloading, and maintaining an organized yard.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carrollwood, FL 33618.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
