Project Manager - Mechanical Construction The Comfort Group is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead large-scale HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical construction projects throughout middle Tennessee. This position is responsible for the overall planning, execution, financial performance, and successful delivery of assigned projects. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can effectively coordinate field operations, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and internal teams while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, schedule, and profitability. Primary Responsibilities Develop project objectives, execution plans, and measurable goals to ensure successful project delivery. Maintain complete knowledge of assigned projects including contracts, plans, specifications, scope, budgets, schedules, and owner requirements. Lead project buyout efforts and procure equipment, materials, subcontractors, and services to maximize project profitability. Establish and manage project budgets, including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and other direct costs. Monitor project financial performance, productivity, forecasting, and cost trends, reacting quickly to variations and identifying corrective actions. Ensure timely and accurate owner billings, change order management, and financial reporting. Manage and approve project schedules, submittals, RFIs, ASIs, change orders, and procurement activities. Coordinate closely with superintendents, vendors, logistics personnel, and subcontractors to ensure efficient project execution and just-in-time material deliveries. Develop and implement project playbooks and execution strategies with field leadership. Monitor manpower requirements and resource allocation to support schedule commitments and productivity goals. Conduct regular jobsite visits to support field teams, monitor progress, and identify opportunities for improvement. Participate in owner, architect, contractor, and internal project meetings. Maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, design teams, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. Ensure compliance with contract requirements and prevent unauthorized scope execution. Champion safety, quality control, and construction best practices throughout all phases of the project. Manage project closeout activities and warranty obligations. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; equivalent mechanical construction experience will be considered. Experience managing HVAC and plumbing construction projects for a mechanical contractor. Proven success managing large commercial projects ranging from several million dollars to $30 million or more. Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems. Ability to interpret and manage project contracts and construction documents. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). BIM experience is a plus. Experience with project management software, scheduling tools, and construction technology platforms is preferred. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
