- RNs do not titrate drips
Common Drip
- Heparin per protocol
Be prepared to discuss:
- Monitoring for bleeding
- Lab monitoring (aPTT or anti-Xa depending on facility)
- Patient education regarding anticoagulation
Telemetry
- Remote telemetry monitoring
- Monitor technician interprets rhythms
- Floor nurses are not responsible for rhythm interpretation
Support Staff
Charge Nurse
- Present on both shifts
House Supervisor
- Available nights
PCT/CNA Support
- Days and nights
- Maximum ratio approximately 1:12
Respiratory Therapy
- Available for CPAP/BiPAP support
Scheduling
Shift Times
- 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
- 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Self-Scheduling
- Available based on staffing and census
Weekends
- Currently 4 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
Holidays
- Rotational
Call/Standby
- If cancelled, may be placed on call
- 45-minute return time when called in
Floating
- Within Med-Surg scope of practice
Orientation
- 1 shift with Clinical Education
- 2 precepted unit shifts
Dress Code
- Navy Blue scrubs
