Summary

Looking for local driving without giving up strong earning potential?

DSV is hiring experienced CDL-A drivers based in Northlake, TX for a dedicated local AM shift running between Northlake, TX and Richardson, TX . You’ll complete approximately 2-3 round trips per day, with trip frequency varying based on freight volume, customer needs, and operational requirements. Drivers transport no-touch freight through a combination of live load/unload and drop-and-hook operations

As a DSV Dedicated Local Driver, you’ll be responsible for the safe and timely transport of freight, completing required equipment inspections and trip documentation, and working closely with dispatch, operations, and customer locations to keep freight moving safely and efficiently.

AM shift drivers can earn $75,000–$85,000+ annually, with up to 10–15 hours of overtime per week based on business needs, while still being home every day. In addition, eligible drivers can earn a $5,000 Sign-On & Retention Bonus based on continued employment and the terms of the bonus program.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle on a dedicated local route.
• Complete approximately 2–3 round trips per day, with the number of trips varying based on freight volume, customer needs, and operational requirements.
• Transport no-touch freight using a combination of live load/unload and drop-and-hook operations.
• Safely position and back trailers into docks, yards, and designated loading and unloading areas.
• Maintain compliance with DOT Hours of Service regulations, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), and all DSV safety policies and procedures.
• Perform required pre-trip, en route, and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections.
• Maintain accurate electronic logs, trip records, shipping documents, and other required documentation.
• Safely couple and uncouple tractors and trailers, operate landing gear, and open and secure trailer doors.
• Monitor equipment condition, fuel as needed, and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Communicate proactively and professionally with dispatch, operations, and customers regarding shipment status, delays, equipment concerns, or other issues that may impact service.
• Follow all customer and facility safety, security, and operating requirements while at pickup and delivery locations.
• Participate in all DOT-required drug and alcohol testing programs.
• Promptly report accidents, incidents, injuries, cargo issues, service delays, and other required events in accordance with company procedures.
• Maintain assigned equipment in a clean, safe, and professional condition.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Meet all DOT qualification requirements under FMCSR Part 391, including maintaining a current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
• Minimum of two (2) years of verified commercial driving experience within the past four (4) years; three (3) or more years preferred.
• Basic computer and electronic logging device (ELD) proficiency.
• Satisfactory motor vehicle record and employment history.
• No positive drug or alcohol test within the past five (5) years.
• No DUI, DWI, reckless driving conviction, or speeding violation of 12 MPH or more over the posted speed limit within the past five (5) years.
• No preventable accident involving bodily injury within the past three (3) years.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle and use hands and fingers to operate vehicle controls and electronic equipment. The position also requires climbing, balancing, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and walking. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to safely operate commercial motor vehicles and perform required inspections.

The employee must be physically able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to:

• Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds as required.
• Safely enter and exit the tractor cab and access trailer areas using steps and handholds.
• Couple and uncouple tractor and trailer equipment and operate fifth-wheel release mechanisms.
• Raise and lower trailer landing gear.
• Perform required vehicle inspections, including inspecting tires, lights, brakes, connections, and other equipment components.
• Operate vehicle controls and equipment safely and effectively.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, and pull as necessary to perform required job duties.
• Stand and walk on a variety of surfaces, including pavement, gravel, loading docks, yards, and customer facilities.
• Meet all applicable DOT physical qualification requirements for commercial motor vehicle drivers.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee works both inside the cab of a commercial vehicle and outdoors at customer locations, terminals, and loading facilities. The employee may be exposed to diesel fumes, airborne particles, varying weather conditions, moderate to loud noise levels, vehicle vibration, uneven or slippery walking surfaces, loading docks, warehouses, terminals, and public roadways.

This is a dedicated local operation with regular travel between assigned DSV and customer locations. Drivers return home daily.

The starting hourly pay is $24.00. After 90 days of employment , employees are eligible for a $2.00 per hour increase , bringing the hourly rate to $26.00 to achieve the listed annual gross earnings. Final compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
