About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior GCP Data Engineer to design, build, and support scalable cloud-based data solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data ecosystem, particularly BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Python, and SQL.
You will work with cross-functional engineering, analytics, and business teams to develop reliable data pipelines, optimize large-scale data processing, and help establish modern data engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform.
Build and optimize data solutions using BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub.
Develop workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow / Cloud Composer.
Write efficient, production-quality Python and SQL for data processing and transformation.
Design and maintain data warehouse and data lake architectures.
Develop appropriate data models for analytics and downstream applications.
Implement automated infrastructure using Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Support CI/CD processes for data engineering applications and infrastructure.
Implement data-quality checks, validation, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
Troubleshoot pipeline performance and production data issues.
Partner with analytics, engineering, product, and business teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
Follow appropriate data security, governance, and privacy practices when working with sensitive information.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering or related roles.
Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Extensive experience with BigQuery.
Hands-on experience building pipelines using Google Cloud Dataflow / Apache Beam.
Experience with Apache Airflow and/or Google Cloud Composer.
Strong programming skills in Python.
Advanced SQL skills and experience working with large datasets.
Strong experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines.
Experience with data warehousing, data lakes, and data modeling.
Experience with GCP services such as Cloud Storage and Pub/Sub.
Experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code technologies.
Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices for data platforms.
Experience implementing data-quality, monitoring, and validation processes.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with healthcare, healthcare technology, or other highly regulated data environments.
Understanding of PHI, data privacy, security, and governance.
Experience with visualization and analytics platforms such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
Exposure to machine learning, AI, or data science workloads.
Experience supporting high-volume, enterprise-scale data platforms.
What We re Looking For
We are particularly interested in engineers who have recent, hands-on experience building production data platforms on GCP. Candidates should be able to clearly explain how they have used BigQuery, Dataflow, Airflow/Composer, Python, and SQL to solve real-world data engineering problems.
