Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Builds real relationships with our local leaders, drivers, and contractors, earning trust through presence, transparency, and expertise.
- Conducts impactful onsite visits to coach teams, evaluating risks, and recognizing positive behaviors.
- Guides leaders and frontline teams on safe practices that align with OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA expectations.
- Supports incidents with a calm, people-first mindset—focusing on learning and preventing recurrence.
- Facilitates high-quality‑ training that is engaging, operationally relevant, and structured to support continuous improvement
- Helps teams read and understand safety metrics to make smarter, safer decisions.
- Delivers a consistent voice for our safety culture, both in person and remotely.
- Provides support, presence, and leadership to make the biggest impact on safety.
- Reinforce SEIDS’ safety culture by encouraging open communication and shared responsibility.
- Develops and delivers OSHA-aligned training on topics such as HAZCOM, lockout/tagout (LOTO), fall protection, machine guarding, driver safety, ergonomics, and emergency response for all shops, cross docks, and office spaces.
- Develops a comprehensive Maintenance Shop Workplace Inspection Protocol.
- Responds to workplace incidents, injuries, and near‑miss events.
- Conducts root‑cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Maintains required OSHA documentation, including OSHA 300 logs, incident reports, and safety training records.
- Champions a culture where people feel seen, supported, and equipped
Employment Standards
Knowledge:
- Possess current DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA regulation knowledge
- A structured investigative process to determine root cause and develop effective corrective actions
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred or a combination of experience and education.
Experience:
- Experience in OSHA, DOT, FMCSA or transportation related safety roles.
- OSHA 511/501 Authorized Trainer required to administer OSHA 10/30 Training
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate compliance into real-world practices.
- Confidence conducting audits, investigations, and coaching conversations.
- CDL Class A (preferred) or a willingness to train toward one.
- Working knowledge of transportation equipment and basic mechanical aptitude.
Essential Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization, agencies, and vendors.
- Detail oriented, flexible with continuous process/system change with an ability to handle deadlines and due dates.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in a variety of situations.
Working Conditions
- A willingness to travel about 70% while balancing remote administrative work.
- Comfort being part of a 24/7 on call support rotation.
- Ability to work extended hours may be required to meet deadlines, handle unusual workloads or to accomplish organizational priorities
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods in one location which may be restricted to the employee’s workstation.
