Concrete Finisher - CF0626 Sanders Brother Construction is currently seeking a Concrete Form/Finisher to support construction projects within the Charleston, SC area. The role involves placing concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk, setting string lines, forming, and finishing concrete. Concrete professionals are a critical component to Sanders Brother’s 60+ years of success in the asphalt paving industry. Sanders Brothers Construction Company, Inc. is a fully bonded, licensed, and insured general contractor of heavy highway, street, and road construction located in North Charleston, South Carolina. The company handles residential and commercial developments, heavy highway and DOT construction, complete site work packages, and operates asphalt production plants, a concrete recycling division, and a soil stabilization division. Roles and Responsibilities The Concrete Finisher will work on commercial, DOT, and residential projects including curb, sidewalk, gutter, ramps, and other flatwork as needed. Prepare, align, and set horizontal concrete forms. Use saws to cut expansion joints or remove concrete. Finish concrete, which may include dye, color, stamp, or other types of finish. Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete such as curbs, sidewalks, roads, pads, and ramps using a variety of hand and power tools. Understand concrete measurements. Use all tools required by concrete finishers. Work weekends as needed, which may require working more than 40 hours. Work in varying weather conditions and environments including dusty, wet, and loud noise. Keep work site areas and company vehicle clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns or vehicle/site problems. Comply with all SBCC policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Perform any other general duties as specified. Qualifications and Education Requirements 0‑2 years of experience (preferred) working with concrete, building/dismantling forms, and supporting concrete pouring/finishing operations. Experience finishing curb, gutter, drains, and ADA ramps (preferred). Knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction. Must be willing to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations (preferred). Must follow all company and site rules and regulations. Employee will be required to stand, walk, bend, squat, and lift for long periods of time. Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools. May be required to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather work boots. Meet SBCC’s employment standards with regards to drug and background checks. Ability to stand, crawl, and kneel for long periods of time. Work environments will vary, requiring tolerance of rain, extreme temperatures, dust, dirt, loud noises, etc. Preferred Skills Operate concrete curb machine. Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record in compliance with SBCC policy.
