Dialysis Technician or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) | Dialysis

Location & Compensation Location: Avera Dialysis-Milbank Worker Type: Regular Work Shift: Primarily days with possible weekends/evenings/holidays (United States of America) Pay Range: $19.75 - $33.75 (actual pay rate dependent upon experience) Position Highlights: May be eligible for $2000-$4000 sign‑on bonus! 5am-5pm; 72 hrs/2 wks – Monday, Wednesday, Friday with occasional weekend and holiday. Brief Overview Performs tasks contributing to performance of maintenance dialysis for patients with end stage renal disease, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. All facility staff must meet the personnel qualifications and demonstrated competencies necessary to serve collectively the comprehensive complex needs of the dialysis patient. Identifies intradialytic comorbidities and monitors patient and equipment alarms during treatment. What You Will Do Understand water room equipment operation and function; complete testing and follow up on abnormal results and complete required documentation. Complete dialysis treatments, initiation and discontinuation from internal accesses, monitoring of vascular access function and appropriately report signs of stenosis, occlusion or infection to RN. Assemble and prepare necessary treatment supplies; rinse and prime dialyzer and attach and install all required tubing according to unit procedure. Test and set parameters according to dialysis prescription. Monitor equipment for safe and proper functioning, respond to alarms, and make appropriate adjustments including blood flow rates and fluid removal rates. Complete accurate documentation of dialysis access and patient treatment. Observe patient during treatments, notify RN of any adverse reactions. Respond to dialysis‑related emergencies, immediately seeking assistance from RN. Provide technical assistance to nurses and readily follow direction from nurses for hemodialysis treatments. Participate in collaboration with patients, family, physicians, nursing staff and all ancillary departments. Essential Qualifications The individual must be able to work the hours specified. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience: High School or GED Equivalent Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) – Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) within 1-1/2 years Certified Hemodialysis Technologist/Technician (CHT) – Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT) within 1-1/2 years Dialysis experience or healthcare experience Expectations and Standards Commitment to the daily application of Avera’s mission, vision, core values, and social principles to serve patients, their families, and our community.
