Staff Accountant

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and contribute to the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This role will be responsible for general ledger activities, reconciliations, and assisting with the month-end close process, as well as supporting audits, fixed asset accounting, and cash management functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Complete general ledger account reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation
- Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes
- Support internal and external audit requests , including preparing schedules and documentation
- Maintain and track fixed assets , including additions, disposals, and depreciation
- Assist with cash management activities, including monitoring balances and transactions
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2-4+ years of general ledger accounting experience (or comparable experience)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
- Proficiency in accounting systems/ERP and Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
