Head 7th Grade Softball Coach

Overview This position is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student athletes so that they achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in softball. Position 7th Grade Head Softball Coach Location Jones Middle School Qualifications High School certification. Previous interscholastic softball coaching experience; head coaching experience preferred. Experience working in a school setting or coaching student athletes. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (Lindsay's Law) Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit Essential Duties and Responsibilities Follow and maintain knowledge of all District policies and procedures. Instruct and teach skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in softball. Establish fair and objective player selection methods and communicate decisions to students. Meet with parents or guardians of team members or those trying out. Create and maintain an inclusive team culture. Plan and set up activities, practices, and games in conjunction with the athletic director. Ensure a certified coach is present at all softball practices and games. Develop appropriate training programs and practice schedules. Ensure proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of athletic equipment, uniforms, and inventory. Arrange game transportation with the Department of Student Life. Travel with student athletes for all events or assign a district‑approved designee to travel on the team bus to and from games. Explain and enforce rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility. Maintain a safe environment and facilities for student athletes at all times. Follow OHSAA rules and regulations. Interact thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, fellow coaches, and officials, resolving conflict professionally. Represent the school and district professionally in interactions with students, parents, community, staff, and the media. Maintain required certifications and training hours. Attend work regularly and be punctual. Additional Requirements The employee must remain free of any alcohol or non‑prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout employment.
