Description of Work Job Description SALARY RANGE: $39,371.00 - $46,350.00 ***THIS POSITION IS TIME-LIMITED, GRANT FUNDED, FULL-TIME. FUNDING FOR THIS POSITION WILL END ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2026. THIS GRANT IS LIKELY TO CONTINUE THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2027.*** The Office of the District Attorney, Prosecutorial District 35, seeks a qualified candidate to provide legal support services to the prosecutors in Mitchell County. Duties include but are not limited to the following: answer phones assist the public type correspondence prepare legal documents prepare files assist victims and witnesses understand and prepare for court gather information to assist in the prosecution of cases and other duties as assigned Travel will be required throughout all five counties in the district (Mitchell, Watauga, Avery, Yancey, and Madison). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Knowledge of: court system and procedures legal terminology community resources to refer victims and witnesses Skill in: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint accurately typing 35-40 wpm answering a multi-line telephone system Ability to: interview to elicit information from victims and witnesses to assure appropriate services coordinate and schedule the daily operations of the victim and witness program manage the court appearances of victims and witnesses to ensure their presence in the courtroom when needed communicate orally and in writing with persons of diverse backgrounds establish and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement officers, officials of related agencies and the general public calmly handle stressful situations Supplemental and Contact Information All NC Judicial Branch agencies are Equal Opportunity Employers.
