Job Summary Baylor Scott & White Health welcomes an opening for a Nurse Practitioner on the Spine Team in Waco, Texas. The position involves providing comprehensive, patient‑centered spine care, collaborating with physicians, agencies, and other professionals to achieve optimal outcomes within our award‑winning integrated healthcare system. Essential Functions Conduct comprehensive or problem‑focused physical examinations and obtain medical histories to assess patients’ physical and mental condition. Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to determine patient needs and conditions. Prescribe, recommend, or employ medical drug therapies or other therapeutic treatments, and perform procedures in accordance with approved policies emphasizing efficacy, safety, and cost. Formulate and implement comprehensive, outcomes‑based treatment plans using evidence‑based medicine, standards of care, and professional guidelines; collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members as appropriate. Evaluate patients’ response to care and the effectiveness of treatment, providing guidance on medication use, diet, and health promotion. Maintain accurate records detailing treatment plans and outcomes; initiate timely consultation and referrals when scope of practice is exceeded. Provide consultation level services for conditions related to the provider’s specialty and appropriate level of experience. Manage patients outside the primary clinic setting (e.g., inpatient, emergency services). Perform invasive procedures within scope of practice and competence as delegated by the supervising physician. Perform follow‑up with patients pre‑ and post‑operatively; may also round on hospitalized or ED patients. Be available for patient care duties beyond the regular schedule based on department coverage needs. Key Success Factors Comprehensive knowledge of diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries, diseases, and deformities, including drug interactions and preventive measures. Proficiency in diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating physical and mental dysfunctions. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Critical thinking and complex problem‑solving abilities. Computer literacy and use of related software applications. Ability to develop and implement comprehensive, outcomes‑based patient treatment plans. Ability to counsel patients on medical and psychological conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification. Ability to interpret and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests. Texas RN licensure or RN licensure with compact privilege from a compact‑participating state; current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Texas. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire. Certification from an accredited board as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) for the patient population of focus. Schedule Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Outpatient setting. Estimated 20 patients per day.
