Position Overview The Accounting Manager will oversee the corporate accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements, and efficient accounting operations. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, technically strong accounting professional with experience managing a small team and supporting complex real‑estate transactions. Key Responsibilities Manage the day‑to‑day accounting operations, including general ledger, property accounting, accounts payable/receivable, and reconciliations. Prepare and review financial statements, schedules, and variance analyses. Oversee significant transactions, including property acquisitions, sales, redevelopments, and financing activities. Support internal and external audits and maintain SOX compliance. Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members, setting clear goals and accountability. Partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Apply advanced accounting principles to resolve complex issues and support process improvements. Act as a subject‑matter expert on accounting software and property operating systems. Qualifications Education & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred. Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s in Accounting) is a plus. Experience 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including team leadership or supervisory responsibilities. Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and SOX compliance. Public accounting experience (Big 4 or top‑tier firm) preferred. Real‑estate or REIT industry experience strongly desired. Skills & Attributes Strong technical accounting expertise, with an understanding of real‑estate complexities. Proven ability to manage and develop a high‑performing accounting team. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments.
