Plans, monitors and manages structural engineering scope, schedule and budget for successful project completionPerforms quality management reviews of structural designs by others and works with designer to understand and resolve issues arising from the reviewPrepares estimates for cost and schedule of structural engineering services for design and constructionProduction of Contract Documents for construction of structures, including plans and specificationsConducts on-site investigations and evaluations of existing structures, including the preparation of reportsWorks with other project team members to understand and integrate their requirements into the structural designCoordinates details of design between various project design disciplinesMentors and trains staff and entry-level structural engineersAssists and coaches CADD technicians in developing presentations of structural designsPrepares and reviews opinions of construction costs for structural portion of projectsAssists field staff in resolving issues and questions during constructionAssists in continuing development and improvement of structural design standards, specifications, and typical detailsDevelops project-specific designs, standards, specifications and details for unusual or unique situationsTravel required when requestedMakes site visits to observe during construction and operationQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with Structural Emphasis6-12 years of experience, preferably in the design of water and wastewater treatment structuresRegistration as a Professional EngineerExpert in the application of building codes and code-referenced standards for design of water treatment and industrial structures in concrete, steel, and reinforced masonryHighly motivated self-starter with demonstrated experience working with minimum supervision to determine and complete structural engineering tasks while acting as part of a multi-disciplinary project teamComprehensive knowledge and understanding of specifications for construction using concrete, masonry and steelComprehensive knowledge and understanding of presentation of structural design and detailing in construction documentsComprehensive knowledge and understanding of structural design codes and standardsSkilled in organizing and coordinating work with both peers and subordinates, and in planning, monitoring, and completing projects within that planProduction and project management skills and experienceStrong oral and written communications skillsProficient in public speaking rolesProficient in MS Word and ExcelPreferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Structural EngineeringExperience with Microstation or AutoCADRegistration as a Structural EngineerOther Compensation and BenefitsCarollo is committed to providing employees with a competitive, comprehensive benefits program that provides the care employees and their families need to lead healthy, productive lives.
