Adult Education Trainer - ESL

Overview Position: Adult Education Trainer - ESL Employer: Kishwaukee College Posting details and responsibilities follow. Responsibilities Provide instruction according to the established curriculum while adapting activities and materials to meet the needs of the students. Collect information and maintain student records in accordance with college requirements. Submit required student records and materials in a timely and organized manner. Demonstrate sensitivity and respect for students’ needs, diversity and right to self-determination. Work in accordance with professional standards and student confidentiality. Participate in monthly staff meetings and ongoing professional development activities in order to effectively perform duties of position. Participate in recruitment and retention strategies that are responsive to the changing needs of the students and community. Provide assessments according to established guidelines. Take initiative, make timely decisions, demonstrate good organizational skills and communication skills, and be flexible. Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities BA or BS degree in education or related field Preferred Qualifications Three years’ experience in teaching ABE, ASE/HSE, Vocational, or ESL MA in Adult Education, ESL, or related field Training or coursework in teaching reading and math Experience with disadvantaged individuals Demonstration of proficiency in oral and written English Technology/Digital Literacy proficiency Teacher certification/training or coursework in teaching methodology Completion of at least three instructional workshops in subject area being taught or other relevant topics to the instructional assignment Demonstration of competency in subject area development Job Details Job Open Date: 08/04/2025 Hours per Week: up to 19.75 Weeks per Year: 16 Posting Link: EOE Statement Kishwaukee College is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer and any reasonable and timely accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act will be made upon documented request by the employee.
