Registered Behavior TechnicianUnder the supervision of the Behavior Support Advisor, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), or site administrator, the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) assists students in achieving academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth by implementing individualized behavior support plans and providing direct instructional and behavioral support in classroom, home, and community settings. The Registered Behavior Technician collects and records data, assists with reinforcement strategies, and supports teachers, specialists, parents, and school staff in maintaining safe and effective learning environments.This position description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee assigned to the position. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:Commits to honoring IUSD's Mission, Vision, Core Values, Commitments, and Indicators of Student Success.Provides intensive behavioral and instructional support to students in classroom, home, and community settings as directed.Implements documented behavior support and instructional plans, including reinforcement systems and intervention strategies.Collects and records behavioral and academic data; prepares charts, graphs, and reports for monitoring student progress.Assists teachers, specialists, and parents with behavior management and implementation of student support strategies.Provides input to instructional personnel regarding student progress and challenges.Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce skills and support goals.Assists in teaching and reinforcing social, communication, and self-sufficiency skills, as needed.Supports student supervision in classrooms, playgrounds, buses, and other school environments.Assists in preparing instructional materials and maintaining a safe and organized learning environment.Participates in training provided by BCBAs or supervisors, including Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies, and data collection practices.Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate within the professional scope of the position.Note: An italicized "E" at the end of an example of duties identifies essential duties required of the classification. This is strictly for use in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.Knowledge of:Techniques and strategies for working with students with disabilities and behavioral challengesApplied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles as directed by supervisorsPositive behavior reinforcement and de-escalation strategiesConfidentiality practices and professional ethicsBasic instructional and clerical methodsHealth and safety regulationsAbility to:Follow assigned behavior intervention and instructional techniques with fidelityProvide one-on-one and small group support to studentsCollect and record accurate behavioral and instructional dataCommunicate effectively with students, staff, and parentsInteract with students using patience, tact, and professionalismAssist students with personal care needsMaintain confidentiality of student records and informationThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.Education: High school diploma or equivalent, and Associate of Arts degree or completion of 48 semester units or 60 quarter units at a regionally accredited college or university, or successful completion of the Paraprofessional Test administered by the Human Resources Division of the Inglewood Unified School District.Experience: One (1) year experience implementing Applied Behavior Analysis programs in educational or behavioral support settings.Licenses and/or Certificates: Registered Behavior Technician certification or documented progression toward certification Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification required Ability to complete the 40-hour Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training within the first year of employment, if required by the District Valid California driver's license and insurable driving record; must be able to travel between job sitesTentative Dates:Virtual Assessment: 08/24-26/2026Oral Interview: 08/28/2026Final Interview: 09/01/2026Benefits: Based on Full-Time Assignment:Although new employees usually begin at the first salary step, advanced Salary step placement may be considered based on Merit system regulations.10 – 25 vacation days per year, based on length of work year and years of service.16 paid holidays per year1 sick day for every month workedInglewood Unified School District offers a comprehensive benefits package including two Medical HMOs (Anthem Blue Cross), Dental, Vision, and Basic Life/AD&D benefits at no cost to eligible full-time employees, which are fully funded by the District. Employee cost sharing applies to our Kaiser HMOs and Anthem Blue Cross PPOs. Eligible employees working less than full-time selecting any of our health benefits options would also contribute to the cost based upon their respective collective bargaining agreement.
