The Senior Paralegal works with attorneys in the department as well as external attorneys, and for litigation matters, acts as a liaison between the attorney and the case files throughout all stages of litigation including pre-trial investigation and preparation, mediation, arbitration and trial; manages own caseload and provides attorneys all necessary assistance in order to provide economical and efficient services for clients. The ideal candidate will have strong time management skills, ability to work under pressure on time-sensitive projects, willingness to work overtime and travel occasionally, be self-motivated and ability to work independently, the ability to work effectively on a team and with all levels of personnel, superior knowledge of legal terminology, documents, and the legal process; excellent research and analytical skills; and high-level attention to detail.Key ResponsibilitiesManage corporate minute books and entity databaseManage annual report filingsDraft corporate resolutionsSupport new vendor and matter entries in billing systemObtain certified corporate documents and apostillesManage service of process including tender of asbestos claimsSupport class action assessments and filingsManage litigation hold processTrial/Arbitration/Mediation preparationOrganize and manage case files and litigation reports including registered agent claims reports and reports from the billing systemFile documents with government agencies or courts (when appropriate)Act as a liaison between outside counsel and internal business partnersCoordinate interviews, meetings, trial or hearing logisticsSupport internal and external investigations and complex cases, including document productions and e-discovery,Analyze technical information received and summarize for reports and discovery responses.Draft and prepare technical/legal documents and lettersPrepare responses to subpoenas and discovery requests (organizing/indexing data – hard copy materials and electronic).Provide administrative support to lawyers and other support staffOpen and close filesOrder recordsLocate and develop pre-litigation case with relevant informationDraft correspondence and answer phone callsMonitor deadlinesCommunicate effectively and productively with individuals in all roles, internal and externalTrack invoices of the legal departmentConduct due diligence relating to M&A transactions and litigationOther duties as assignedWhat we are looking forBachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificateLaw firm: 5 years (Preferred)Corporate: 7 years (Preferred)Patent and Trademark law: 3 years (Preferred)Broad experience with corporate, commercial litigation, and intellectual propertyStrong attention to detailAbility to communicate effectively and efficiently both verbally and in writingStrong time management skills and the ability to prioritize work to meet all deadlines and client-deliverables expectationsAbility to extract, manipulate, summarize and report large quantities of dataStrong skills with MS Office (Outlook, Word, SharePoint, Excel, CoPilot), CT Advantage and hQue, Exterro, and Legal TrackerNotary Public (Preferred)Salary Range:$70,400 - $96,800Internal Use Only: SalaryGlobal Terms of Use and Privacy StatementCarefully read the BorgWarner Privacy Policy before using this website.
