The City of Marinette Fire Department is currently seeking qualified and motivated individuals for the position of Firefighter . This recruitment is to fill an immediate vacancy as well as establish an eligibility list for potential future openings that may occur over the next twenty-four (24) months. The City of Marinette Fire Department is a full-time fire department. The department provides fire, EMS and other emergency services to over 11,000 residents in a 7.5 square mile area. The department has automatic aid response with the Menominee Fire Department as well as mutual aid with area departments in Marinette County. As a Firefighter, you will serve the community by performing Fire and EMS calls, fire inspection, and public education. Our firefighters actively engage with the community by offering educational opportunities such as station tours, school-based fire safety programs, child car seat installations, fire extinguisher training, and more. Procedure: Applicants who meet the qualifications will be contacted to take the written examination. The examination process may include a written test, oral interview, physical ability test, and background investigation. All phases of the examination must be successfully completed in order to continue in the selection process. Failure in any segment of the examination disqualifies a candidate from continuing in the selection process. Eligibility List : Candidates who successfully complete all phases of the examination will be placed on an eligible list for consideration for employment. Conditional Offer of Appointment: Candidates offered employment must pass a pre-employment medical examination and drug test as a condition of employment. Final appointment to the position of Firefighter is contingent upon passing all pre-employment components, the number of vacancies, and approval by the Fire and Police Commission. Requirements: Wisconsin Certified Firefighter II or equivalent (IFSAC, Pro-Board, U.S. Dept of Defense, Michigan Regional Alliance for Fire Training) Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License Minimum of EMR (Emergency Medical Responder); Hazmat Tech is preferred, but not required. Minimum age of 18 years old Must pass a written exam CPAT Certification (no older than six (6) months or must complete within six (6) months of hire). Proof of completion for Entry Level Driver Operator Pumper. Residency requirement : Must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin and live within a thirty (30) mile radius of the jurisdictional boundary of the City of Marinette within six (6) months of hire. Rate of Pay: $61,297.60 - $68,140.80 annual base pay; additional compensation includes holidays, education, and specialty pays, $600 uniform allowance on start date and annually thereafter, plus excellent fringe benefits. A standard 56/hr. work week on a 24 on/48 off work schedule will be assigned.
