Payroll Specialist

Cowell Steel Structures, LLC, is a growing steel building manufacturing business located in Pottsville, Arkansas. We are seeking a qualified individual to fill a payroll specialist position. The ideal candidate for this position would be initiative-taking, organized and detail oriented. This person will be required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workloads as well as provide administrative support to the accounting supervisor and other team members of the accounting department.

Duties:

• Oversee time and attendance system
• Investigate discrepancies
• Maintain and update Employee Files
• DOT compliance
• Responsible for completing monthly closing reports
• Organize and prioritize large volumes of information
• Accurately analyze, prepare, and input accounting data
• Onboarding new employees
• Work with management to resolve grievances and issues related to employees
• Maintain compensation and benefits records
• Build and foster a nurturing work environment
• Foster the company culture and employee events
• Ensure employees are aware of company policies
• Other duties as needs arise

Position Requirements:

Skills Needed:

• Knowledge of payroll and HR fundamentals
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
• Strong math skills
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent data entry skills – experience with ERP systems is a plus
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Effective organization and time management skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment

Education & Qualifications:

• Accounting degree or significant payroll experience required
• Word processing, spreadsheets, and other computer abilities
• Experience at a manufacturing facility highly desired
