Senior Software Engineering Manager

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We need formal training or certification in software engineering concepts plus 5+ years of applied experience.
• We need advanced expertise in site reliability culture and principles, including how to apply them across application and platform teams while avoiding common pitfalls.
• We need experience leading teams in the safe use of enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for reliability engineering workflows, including validation practices and awareness of data sensitivity.
• We need the ability to set and reinforce organization-level practices for reviewing AI-assisted recommendations and escalating uncertain decisions while maintaining resiliency, security, and auditability.
• We need experience leading technologists in managing and resolving complex technology issues at a firmwide level.
• We need the ability to shape team culture by championing innovation and change.
• We need experience hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
• We need proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java Spring Boot, or .Net.
• We need demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile.
• We need proficiency with continuous integration and continuous delivery tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or Terraform.
• We need experience with containers and container orchestration such as ECS, Kubernetes, or Docker, plus troubleshooting common networking technologies and issues.
• Preferred: we value the ability to code and demonstrate strong data fluency.

• We influence strategic planning and drive continuous improvement in customer experience, resiliency, security, scalability, monitoring, instrumentation, and automation.
• We apply site reliability principles and balance feature delivery, efficiency, and stability.
• We negotiate effectively with peers and executive partners to achieve the best outcomes.
• We promote adoption of site reliability practices across the organization.
• We drive reuse-first use of enterprise-authorized AI capabilities in the work environment to improve reliability operations and customer experience outcomes, with human-in-the-loop validation and careful handling of sensitive data.
• We ensure our teams demonstrate site reliability best practices and can prove them through stability and reliability metrics.
• We foster a culture of continuous improvement and gather real-time feedback to enhance the customer experience.
• We ensure our team collaborates with other teams in our specialization and avoids unnecessary duplication of work.
• We use blameless, data-driven post-mortem practices and hold regular team debriefs to learn from both successes and mistakes.
• We provide personalized coaching to entry- and mid-level team members.
• We encourage our team to document and share knowledge and innovations through internal forums, communities of practice, guilds, and conferences.
• We establish team standards for AI-assisted reliability workflows across automation and delivery practices, with traceability, auditability, resiliency, and security controls.
