Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in a 33-bed med-surg unit, managing a diverse patient population including orthopedic, bariatric, cardiac, and neurological cases. Ensures high-quality patient outcomes through vigilant monitoring and adherence to clinical protocols.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor patient conditions, including telemetry readings and vital signs.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies.
• Document patient information accurately using the Meditech electronic medical record system.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Respond promptly to patient needs and monitor changes in patient status, especially for cardiac and post-operative patients.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment in compliance with healthcare standards.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license in the state of practice.
• BLS certification is required; ACLS certification preferred.
• Proven experience in medical-surgical nursing, with telemetry unit familiarity.
• Ability to assess patient conditions accurately and respond effectively.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexibility to work various shifts including 8-hour, 10-hour, or 12-hour schedules.
