This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR), Collection and Enforcement Administration (CEA). The incumbent is responsible for collecting and securing the most complex delinquent tax cases from business and individuals owing District of Columbia taxes. Duties include, but are not limited to: conducting interviews with taxpayers (and/or their representatives) to secure complete financial information and assessing the taxpayer’s ability to pay outstanding tax obligations preparing detailed complex narrative reports in support of case determinations counseling taxpayers on their tax filings, and deposition and payment obligations discussing the seriousness of trust fund liabilities for Sales & Use and Withholding taxes and the potential personal liability for non-compliance explaining the District’s Offer-In-Compromise program to taxpayer’s and/or their representatives Performs other related duties as assigned Four (4) years of progressive work experience performing duties related to analyzing financial statements, evaluating assets, conducting financial investigations, and resolving account discrepancies for taxpayers. Experience that provides the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for this position.
