RN - PCU

Registered Nurse in Progressive Care UnitThis assignment is for 13 weeks and requires night shifts, 4x12 hours. Weekend coverage may be required based on staffing needs. The unit is a step-down unit from ICU with diverse patient populations. Staffing involves a bedside RN, a Virtual RN, and a CNA for every patient. The bedside RN ratio is 1:4 and the CNA ratio is 1:6. The virtual nurse manages remote patient assistance, including admission and discharge processes. 30% of the patient population is cardiac-related, including CHF and MI patients. Additional patient care includes respiratory cases such as COVID, COPD, and asthma exacerbations. The unit cares for neuro and renal patients and those requiring higher-level monitoring. Staffing support includes interdisciplinary teams such as physical therapy and respiratory services. The facility is a Magnet facility and a Level II Trauma center. Travelers may float to lower acuity units and need to comply with unit care needs. All requests for time off should be made at the time of submission.
