Job Summary As a Host/Hostess at Denny's, you will be responsible for greeting and seating customers, receiving payments, and assisting service personnel to ensure customer satisfaction. Job Functions/Responsibilities Greet and welcome customers immediately upon arrival, verifying the number in their party and determining any special needs Collect payment from customers in accordance with established cash handling procedures and handle customer complaints/suggestions appropriately Seat customers at tables/booths appropriate for their needs and those of the restaurant Handle incoming phone calls promptly Maintain a proper supply of menus and ensure they are clean and in good repair Provide customers with initial beverage orders and refill their beverages when possible Assist service personnel in cleaning and setting tables as needed Maintain a clean and organized waiting area and register area Must be courteous, friendly, and present a professional image at all times Embody and promote company values Accountabilities Ensure customers are greeted and seated in a pleasant and courteous manner, following company timing standards. Ask guests about their dining experience and invite them to return. Handle guest check transactions properly to balance the register totals at the end of the shift. Physical Requirements Extensive standing during peak hours Must have a high level of mobility/flexibility Must be able to work under heavy pressure during peak hours Bending, reaching, and walking Communicating with customers Operating cash register Must be able to work with computers and have good phone skills Carrying trays of food products weighing about 20 pounds for distances up to 30 feet Qualification Standards Must be able to observe and differentiate between monetary denominations Simple math skills required Ability to communicate well with guests Must have sufficient mobility to move and/or operate in the work area Must meet any state, county, or municipal regulations pertaining to health risk concerns about food handling Must immediately inform management of any safety hazards, equipment problems, or complaints from guests, or other employees Must maintain a professional image at all times Must complete all video training, anti-discrimination & anti-harassment training, and comply with Denny's nondiscrimination policies Benefits Flexible schedule Paid time off Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Life insurance Disability insurance Employee discount Paid tuition for English Language courses Opportunity for Advancement And more!
