Job Description Job Description Position Summary The Medical Assistant (MA) at Kids First Pediatric Clinic, LLC, is vital in providing high-quality patient care. This position involves clinical and administrative responsibilities, supporting healthcare providers, and ensuring a smooth patient experience. Duties and Responsibilities Back Office Responsibilities: - Prepare patients for exams and document essential information, including: - At least three vital signs per visit - Pulse oximetry (if indicated or ordered) - Peak flow measurements (if indicated) - Hearing and vision screenings (if indicated or ordered) - Urinalysis and other appropriate tests (if indicated or ordered) - Complete patient intake forms for well and sick visits in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. - Retrieve and update immunization histories if not already in the EMR. - Observe and assess patients' non-verbal communication and physical conditions. - Maintain a friendly, patient-centered atmosphere for children and their families. - Assist providers with exams and procedures as needed. - Perform and document ordered procedures, including: - Respiratory Testing: Spirometry - Ear and Hearing Care: Tympanograms, ear lavage - Laboratory Testing: Rapid strep, mononucleosis, influenza, RSV, urinalysis, hemograms (finger stick or venipuncture), urine catheterization, and correct handling of lab specimens. - Immunizations: Administer vaccines using sterile techniques, ensuring patient safety and providing the correct Vaccine Information Statements (VIS). - Patient Education: Provide instructions and education per provider requests. - Procedures: Place and read PPD tests, apply sterile dressings, and fit splints as ordered. Front Office Responsibilities: - Process prescription refill requests, enter requests in EMR, and handle prior authorizations. - Set up sterile trays as requested. - Communicate test results and provider messages to patients/families, documenting interactions in EMR. - Maintain strict patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. - Adhere to OSHA and CLIA regulations. - Handle patient calls, schedule appointments, and document interactions accurately. Administrative Duties - Maintain organized, well-stocked, and sanitized exam rooms. - Perform routine equipment calibrations (e.g., Spirometry). - Prepare and sterilize medical equipment; maintain Autoclave. - Coordinate Synagis administration. - Ensure compliance with OSHA and CLIA regulations. - Order medical supplies, immunizations, and medications. - Monitor and document proper storage temperatures for vaccines and medications, taking corrective actions as needed. - Perform intermittent physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, and reaching above shoulder height. - Maintain adequate visual, auditory, and manual dexterity capabilities to perform medical tasks effectively. Work Schedule - Monday - Thursday: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM - Friday: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Every other Friday) - Saturday: 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM (Every other Saturday) Supervisory Relationship - Report directly to the physicians. - Direct inquiries to the Office Manager via email as needed.
