RN - Observation Unit

Building Location: Building D - Miller Dwan Medical Center - EH Duluth. Department: 2043070 MED SURG OBSERVATION - SMDC HOSP. Job Overview Essentia Health Duluth – Miller Dwan is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide patient care in our Observation Unit. The role involves assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patients, leading and delegating tasks to nursing personnel as appropriate, and contributing to the mission and goals of the facility and the broader Essentia Health community. Responsibilities Organize and provide comprehensive patient care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Lead nursing staff and delegate aspects of care based on licensure, preparation, and job descriptions. Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Participate in day/night shift rotations (12‑hour shifts, 0.75 FTE) with coverage on every third weekend. Qualifications BSN or ADN degree from an accredited nursing program. Experience 1 year of Acute Medical/Surgical RN experience preferred. Critical Care experience preferred. Licensure/Certification Current nursing licensure in Minnesota. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within one month of hire. Compensation Shift: 12‑hour day/night rotation (Start: 0700 / 1900; End: 1930 / 0730).
