Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery provides comprehensive nursing care to maternal and newborn patients. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care, with opportunities to cross-train in medical-surgical and ICU settings.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients conditions through detailed history taking and physical evaluations.

• Develop and implement individualized care plans for obstetric and postpartum patients.

• Monitor labor progress, including fetal heart rate and uterine activity, ensuring fetal and maternal well-being.

• Manage labor induction, cervical ripening, and handle obstetric emergencies such as prolapsed cord, breech delivery, and postpartum hemorrhage.

• Recognize high-risk conditions like hypertension and diabetes, and coordinate necessary interventions.

• Educate patients and families on postpartum care, neonatal health, and intervention options.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Wisconsin Registered Nursing license.

• Possess a two-year nursing degree; a four-year degree is preferred.

• Maintain AHA BLS certification within 1 month of hire.

• Achieve NRP certification within 6 months, and STABLE and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certifications within 1 year of hire.

• Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in clinical tasks.
