Job-ID: ed0e3005-1f78-4c39-a51f-cf294cfebeb1Reference: MECHA001357Location: Springfield, Massachusetts, United StatesCategory: Mechanical EngineeringEmployment type: full timeSalary: USD 95000 - 130000You will be a member of our mechanical department and your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:ResponsibilitiesMay work independently or with other ME’s, depending on project sizeExecute all tasks necessary to complete the engineering on a project from conceptual design through executionPerform heating and cooling load calculationsPerform mass energy balance calculationsPerform drainage and line loss calculationsEquipment sizing and selectionDevelop Mechanical / Utility equipment and construction specificationsDevelop P&ID’s, equipment layout plans, plant / process utility piping (steam, hydronic, CA) distribution plans, and system detailsP&ID design & draftingSize and develop layouts for ductwork and piping plansControls functional description developmentCreate equipment schedulesAssist with the development of the building management system (BMS) controls, details, and plans with electrical and controls engineersProvide cost estimation and scheduling to PMsPresent engineering findings to clientCode reviews for HVAC/plumbing/fire protection designsBuilding code familiarity, compliance & reviewInsurance carrier requirements – familiarity & reviewPerform mechanical system design development and coordinating with other internal and external team membersBid package: equipment and sub-contractor – bid list, scope of work, milestone scheduleBid ReviewVendor and Sub-contractor selectionVendor shop inspection / FATCreate project documents such as calculations, reports, and construction drawings and specifications, etc.Perform construction administration in the form of submittal reviews, RFI responses, and field visits to verify construction scope is proceeding per the intent of the designDiscipline lead for commissioning activitiesDisciple lead for efficiency improvements or existing system troubleshootingResearch mechanical / utility materials and best practicesProvide coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group when directed by supervisor.Required Education Skills and ExperienceBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldWork experience in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamicsWork experience with utility systems (Boilers, Chillers, Compressed Air) designs and specifications.Work experience performing calculations in areas of energy, drainage, line loss, etc.Experience working with computer operations for engineering design programs and computer aided drafting (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)Relevant work experience in an industrial manufacturing setting preferredStrong technical writing and communication skillsTravel to customer project sites for review, audit, and meetings, estimated 35-50%About UsWe plan, design, engineer, and build food plants for major brands across the country and the world.
