Senior Software Engineer (Onsite)

Who We’re Looking For We’re looking for a highly motivated Mid-Level to Senior Software Engineer who enjoys building products from the ground up and wants meaningful ownership over both the technology and the product. This is an opportunity to join an early-stage engineering team where you’ll work directly with the founder, help mentor junior developers, influence technical direction, and build software that has the potential to impact how governments, investors, and businesses make investment decisions. The ideal candidate: Builds production-ready software with minimal oversight Enjoys startup environments and high ownership Mentors junior developers naturally Thinks beyond individual tickets and considers overall system design Uses AI tools daily to improve engineering productivity Communicates well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain full stack web applications Develop scalable backend APIs and services Build modern React-based user experiences Collaborate directly with the founder to shape product direction Mentor junior engineers and help establish engineering best practices Build integrations with public and third-party data sources Develop analytics dashboards and reporting experiences Participate in architectural decisions as the platform evolves Leverage AI-assisted development workflows throughout the software development lifecycle Help scale the engineering organization as the company grows Some Must-Haves 4+ years (Mid-Level) or 7+ years (Senior) professional software engineering experience Strong experience building production web applications Experience with Python and modern backend development Strong React and TypeScript experience Experience designing RESTful APIs Experience working with PostgreSQL Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS Comfortable working in startup environments Strong communication and collaboration skills Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar as part of daily development Technical Requirements Python (FastAPI) React TypeScript AWS Lambda PostgreSQL / Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL SQLAlchemy Amazon Cognito REST APIs Git / GitHub Cloud-native application development Modern AI-assisted development workflows Nice-to-Haves Experience with AI agentic development workflows Experience building analytics or dashboard-heavy applications Experience integrating public APIs and large datasets Startup experience Experience mentoring junior engineers Exposure to data science or analytics platforms Infrastructure and DevOps experience on AWS Interest in economic development, fintech, or investment platforms Where We’re Looking For It Albany, New York #J-18808-Ljbffr Jahnel Group
