A premier leader in heavy industrial equipment and power systems is seeking a Lead Mechanical Project & Test Engineer to drive root-cause analysis, mechanical design, and dynamic testing near New Castle, DE.

This is a high-visibility, hands-on role combining shop-floor problem-solving, client interface, and project execution, with a clear internal path toward an Engineering Manager leadership position.

responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities

• Evaluate incoming damaged equipment, perform root-cause failure analysis, determine component suitability for reuse, and author technical reports for customers.

• Reverse engineer components with precise critical manufacturing tolerances. Create detailed 3D parametric CAD models and unit upgrade drawings.

• Conduct unit testing using LabVIEW and data acquisition (DAQ) tools on a daily basis (vibration, temperature, and performance metrics).

• Lead technical repair and new build projects. Guide and train shop technicians, resolve in-house service issues, and maintain ISO certification and quality procedures.

• Partner with field sales on technical customer presentations, coordinate vendor/facility activities, and act as the liaison to corporate engineering.

Position Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSMET) from an accredited program.

• 3+ years of industrial engineering or manufacturing experience (ideally focused on gearboxes, heavy rotating machinery, drive trains, or high-precision mechanical repairs).

• Experience with SolidWorks is preferred; experience with other 3D parametric CAD software (e.g., Inventor, Creo) is acceptable.

• Exposure to or functional knowledge of LabVIEW and data acquisition setups (will use daily on the shop floor).

• US Citizenship or legal authorization to work in an ITAR-regulated environment is required.
