Role Description

The Board Member (Volunteer) is a remote role providing strategic guidance and governance oversight. Responsibilities include attending virtual board meetings; reviewing organizational plans, budgets, and policies; and contributing to long-term strategy and risk management. Board members take part in decisions on key priorities, support fundraising and resource mobilization where possible, and serve as ambassadors within their professional networks. The role also involves working closely with fellow board members and organizational leadership, upholding regulatory and ethical standards, and offering advisory support when needed.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in leadership, nonprofit management, or a related field; board experience is welcome but not required
• Background or strong interest in international development, global health, or social impact
• Ability to review financial statements and budgets and contribute to sound decision-making
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including working effectively with a diverse, remote team
• Comfort with virtual collaboration tools and availability for scheduled online meetings
• Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to transparency and accountability
• Experience in fundraising, partnerships, law, finance, or strategic planning is a plus
