Field Manager

The Field Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating on‑site construction activities to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with safety regulations and quality standards. Acting as the primary point of contact between the job site and project management teams, the Field Manager ensures that work is executed according to plans, specifications, and schedules. This role involves managing subcontractors, supervising field personnel, maintaining site safety compliance, and resolving day‑to‑day operational issues. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Review plans prior to the bid Provide feedback and input to the estimator during the estimate Participate in bid reviews when necessary Pre‑Construction Phase Review contracts Be familiar with bid day agreements and key contractual issues Understand scope of work Thoroughly review project plans & specs Review Shop Drawings and provide feedback to utilize best practices Identify FLC Foreman who will perform work Develop manpower needs based on Project Schedule Meet with GC Superintendent Visit job site to evaluate readiness Participate in Pre Job‑Review Ensure that necessary materials and equipment are on the jobsite day one Construction Phase Project support Collaborate/communicate with the foreman weekly to understand both short‑term and long‑term needs Identify optimum material sizes and lengths to support productivity Requires production goals vs actual are submitted weekly and thoroughly reviewed after. Reviews 2 week look ahead and follows up weekly Job sites visit Minimum of once a week Job site meetings Walk job with foreman Identify safety issues and concerns Review costs and productivity with foreman Discuss production goals and how we can improve Verify work in place Quality control Meet with GC (supt. and/or PM) Ensure Lean measures are being taken during installation Sends necessary emails/written communications to GC for notices of delay, disruption, etc. Ensuring adequate manpower Responsive to phone calls and email from FLC Team and GC Regular communication with the FLC Team and GC Discuss manpower issues and concerns with FLC Team Customer relationships Develop and maintain strong customer relationships Contributes to F.L. Crane profitability by effectively managing the workforce and job site needs. Identifies and resolves any problems that arise in an urgent timely manner to minimize non‑conformant work. Works with Field Management teams to ensure all manpower needs are met. Ensures production requirements and goals are being met. Reviews job site progress and completion percentages with foremen on a weekly basis and accurately reports information to the project manager. Maintains communication with estimator, project manager, and field staff to ensure success on all projects. Participates in Pre-Job, Mid-Job, Kick Finish, and Post-Job reviews in a timely manner. Monitors Foremen’s performance and use of resources and equipment. Works with foremen to develop 2‑week look ahead. Monitors time records to ensure time is turned in accurately and timely. Monitors GPS data on company vehicles to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as well as cross reference to work hours submitted. Ensure crews adhere to job start and stop times and travel policies. Requires all production reports to be turned in correctly and timely. Actively involved and promotes the Crane College training program. Interviews and evaluates potential employees and subcontractors including the participation in the disciplinary process. Identifies future field leadership and ensures proper training and professional development actions are taken to fast track their career possibilities. Responds, interacts, and works collaboratively and respectfully with internal and external customers in a prompt and professional manner. Actively participates in committees and special projects when requested. Manages time effectively, works hours as needed to perform assigned duties. Fully understands and practices company policies and procedures. Works diligently and succeeds in contributing to developing and maintaining a high level of communication, coordination, and cooperation throughout the company. Ensures that all employees and subcontractors have been trained to promote a healthy and safe work environment. Supervise compliance with building and safety regulations following all OSHA standards. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) 5+ years of experience in construction supervision (required) Preferred Skills and Abilities Strong communication skills, leadership skills, organizational skills, problem‑solving skills, and time‑management skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
