Overview The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies (formerly Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies) is one of the nation’s leading tobacco‑focused research centers. Faculty have received over $50 million in extramural funding over the past two decades, and the Institute’s mission is to reduce and ultimately eliminate tobacco‑related morbidity and mortality. Five Centers or Programs operate at the Institute, including a Tobacco Center for Regulatory Science, the Center of Excellence for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco, the Tobacco Dependence Program, a Tobacco Industry Marketing Program, and a Tobacco Control Law & Policy Resource Center. Posting Summary Rutgers is seeking a Research Support Associate for the Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies (INTS) located in New Brunswick, NJ. Under the direction of an Assistant Professor, the Associate will carry out daily activities related to federally funded research protocols and assist with investigator‑initiated research and Institute‑specific projects. This onsite, participant‑facing role is ideal for Psychology or Public Health graduates who desire research experience for graduate study or research careers. Responsibilities Perform various research and technical operations relative to ongoing investigatory activities. Switch efficiently between tasks to meet dynamic daily responsibilities. Recruit and retain clinical trial participants, including phone screening, smartphone app download, and mailouts. Maintain efficient and prompt communications with the study team and principal investigator. Schedule and conduct study visits according to study protocols. Collect, process, and ship biospecimens. Qualifications Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant science field. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Preferred Qualifications Prior research experience is an asset. Experience in crisis centers, medical/mental health care settings, or customer services is highly preferred. Experience with REDCap and Excel is strongly preferred. Experience working with medical populations. Benefits Medical, prescription drug, and dental coverage.
