Development Project Manager | Billings, MT

IMEG is hiring a Civil Project Engineer who will act as a Development Project Manager in Billings, MT, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity civil projects. You’ll collaborate with senior staff on larger, high-complexity work while providing engineering solutions and advice that help clients achieve positive outcomes. You will also support project delivery through analysis, design, and implementation oversight—while working within budget and collaborating across teams to meet project goals.Principal ResponsibilitiesPerform complex engineering calculations as assigned (e.g., hydraulic calculations, traffic projections, piling or rebar calculations, or calculations to balance site earthwork)Support water and sewer system designs for smaller private systems and larger municipal systemsPrepare grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plansCoordinate and oversee permit application efforts for a variety of municipalitiesLead civil engineering analysis and design efforts; utilize engineering software and tools to develop designs, specifications, and calculations per code requirements and IMEG standardsPartner with clients to gather requirements and communicate technical information; build and maintain client relationships through professional communicationLead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling efforts to meet deadlines and objectives; document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring design progress (percent complete and fee expended)Provide in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes to meet IMEG, industry, and client requirementsPrioritize safety and regulatory compliance; interpret state and local design criteria and apply it to project needs while collaborating with multidisciplinary teamsIdentify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project ManagerRequired Qualifications and SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, requiredProfessional Engineer (PE) License required5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in the Civil Engineering and Construction industry required.Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsStrong training and mentoring skillsProficiency of industry standard engineering software and toolsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsEagerness to adapt to new challengesProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight staysThis position is not eligible for sponsorship.Why Join Us IMEG puts people first—with a strong focus on career growth, work-life balance, and meaningful impact.
