Quality Technician-Level 1

This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and weekends as required. The role reports directly to the Vice President of Quality or a designee. Primary Job Responsibilities Follow all safety requirements. Generate Quality Notifications in the PLP Intranet. Conduct product inspection and testing to ensure compliance with applicable standards. Collaborate with production personnel to continually improve products and services provided to customers. Maintain good housekeeping in the lab and lab areas. Conduct inspections and tests as prescribed in the PLP Quality Manual: Perform Density, Melt Index/HLMI, and Ash tests on all incoming products. Conduct in‑process inspections for pipe extrusion at least twice per shift. Verify the accuracy of silo pack logs. Verify pipe dimensions on samples submitted for final inspection. Perform Quick Burst and Ring Tensile tests within the capabilities of lab equipment. Inspect finished product and mark appropriately for acceptance status. Job Skills Leadership, professionalism, organizational and communication skills. Experience with MS Word and MS Excel. Strong focus on safety, quality, customer service and productivity. Ability to operate a forklift. Educational Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Strong math skills. Preferred Experience 1–2 years’ experience. Previous customer service and/or warehouse experience. Physical Requirements Ability to lift 75 pounds. Ability to verbally communicate with other employees. Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time in temperature extremes. Ability to use hands, arms and legs to physically handle and transport finished goods. Position requires full range of body motion including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting and ability to mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicles. Ability to speak, read and write fluently in the English language. Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions (especially heat). Must be able to work weekends.
