Psychiatrist 1 (City of Rochester)

Role Summary

Psychiatrists serve as an essential part of the Article 16 Clinic behavioral health team, providing comprehensive psychiatric treatment services built on principles of effective, measurable, and accountable care. They act as primary prescribers, integrate care to promote mental and physical health, and may offer clinical supervision and guidance to other medical personnel or clinicians. Psychiatrists advise multidiscipline residential treatment teams on implementing psychiatric plans of care and practice under the direction of a senior psychiatrist or physician.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver psychiatric treatment and prescribe psychopharmacology in line with best practice.
• Integrate services to support overall mental and physical recovery.
• Provide clinical supervision and guidance to other clinicians.
• Advise multidisciplinary teams on psychiatric plans of care.
• Operate as a practicing specialist under the direction of a higher‑level psychiatrist or physician.

Qualifications

• License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State.
• Completion of an ABPN‑approved psychiatry training program.
• Maintained certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, if required.
• Eligibility to engage in background investigations and comply with all state and federal exclusion lists.
• Ability to become an enrolled Medicare provider with an NPI number, if needed.

Additional Requirements

• Rejection from any Medicaid or Medicare exclusion list during appointment or thereafter may result in termination.
• Adherence to all state licensing and certification requirements.
