Respiratory Therapist I - Per Diem - Nights - MRH

Location: Hollywood, Florida Summary: Provides care for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. Night shift, 4 days per month minimum with one weekend day. Responsibilities: Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices. Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment. Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition. Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources. Competencies: Accountability Arterial blood gas sampling – arterial puncture Artificial airway care/maintenance Customer service HFNC/Vapotherm Mechanical ventilation weaning/pulmonary mechanics Non‑invasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) Patient and family centered care Responding to change Standards of behavior Education and Certification Requirements: Accredited Program: Respiratory Therapy (Required) BLS Cert American Heart (BLS AHA) – American Heart Association Certified Respiratory Therapist (TT LICENSE) – State of Florida (FL) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RT LICENSE) – State of Florida (FL) Additional Job Information: Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: No prior work experience required. Other Information: Can be licensed as RT or TT. National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) credential is preferred. Department Specific Credentials: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) for NICU, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for Pediatric areas, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Adult areas. Additional Education Info: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Additional Credential Info: RT or TT required.
