Business Operations Specialist Job Summary


A growing industrial recycling company in West Michigan is seeking a hands-on and highly organized Business Operations Specialist to support daily operations, logistics, customer service, and administrative functions. This position works closely with operations, transportation, warehouse, maintenance, accounting, and leadership teams to keep information, materials, customers, and documentation moving efficiently throughout the organization. The ideal candidate is a dependable problem-solver with strong communication skills who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and enjoys improving processes and solving operational challenges.


Business Operations Specialist Responsibilities

• Coordinate inbound and outbound scale operations, ensuring accurate transactions and documentation.
• Communicate with drivers, customers, dispatchers, warehouse personnel, vendors, and leadership to support efficient daily operations.
• Coordinate transportation, shipping, receiving, logistics documentation, and operational tracking.
• Monitor inventory, material movement, transportation schedules, and operational reporting.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and coordinate timely resolutions across departments.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, vendors, and transportation partners, providing professional and responsive customer service.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice processing, collections, and account maintenance.
• Maintain accurate customer, vendor, inventory, and operational records within ERP and other business systems.
• Partner with accounting and leadership to improve administrative processes, reporting, and internal controls.
• Support ERP systems, logistics tracking tools, equipment software, and operational reporting processes.
• Identify inefficiencies and recommend practical process improvements across departments.
• Assist leadership with special projects, growth initiatives, and other operational priorities.

Schedule & Compensation


Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday 7:30am-5pm


Position Type: Evaluation or Direct Hire


Compensation: $26-$28/HR. Based on Experience


Business Operations Specialist Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in operations support, logistics, transportation, customer service, or administrative roles within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of transportation, inventory, logistics, and operational workflows.
• Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Highly accountable, dependable, and detail-oriented with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
