Counsel - Corporate Litigation

OverviewThe Counsel will assist the Deputy General Counsel Litigation. This position requires a strong background in complex commercial litigation, including courtroom presence, trial participation, and voir dire experience.NOTE: This is an IN-OFFICE opportunity only, located in the SH 288 and Hwy 518 area.25 Days PTOMedical * Dental * Vision401k 100% Match up to 6%The essential job functions include, but are not limited to:Work on dispute and litigation matters, including investigation, legal research and writing, drafting and reviewing pleadings, motions, and discovery, preparing for and participating in hearings, trials, and appealsWork on litigation discovery processes, including supervising and implementing legal holds and document collectionResearch, prepare guidance, and offer legal counsel on compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including privacy, data security, consumer rights, employment, operations, and other areasIdentify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and proceduresResearch specific legal issues and share results with legal team or business unitAssist other attorneys in the legal department with a variety of mattersCollaborate with all departments to deliver timely and responsive legal servicesMaintain familiarity with current and proposed laws and regulations and case guidance involving all assigned mattersMaintain organized files and track critical deadlines for a variety of mattersUse and increase knowledge of contract legal management, matter management, and other company software platformsIt is an essential function of this job for the employee to work in office/in the employee’s assigned work site. No remote work is availablePerform other duties as required and/or assignedEmployee must be able to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodationThe position requirements include, but are not limited to:The Counsel must be licensed to practice law in Texas or be licensed in another state and be eligible to become licensed in Texas within one yearJuris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school is requiredSignificant hands-on litigation experience, including courtroom presence, drafting and arguing motions, participating in hearings and trials, and conducting or assisting with voir dire is required5 years of relevant legal experience.
