Market Security Operations Manager - Southern California

TorchStone is hiring a full-time Southern California based Market Security Operations Manager to support a vertically integrated health system corporate security organization across a busy, multi-site healthcare environment. The main focus of this role is keeping security services consistent, compliant, and effective across a group of assigned facilities. Working within the client's market-level security structure, the Market Security Operations Manager is a visible field partner who checks how operations are running each day, helps close gaps, and works with site leaders to raise the standard of protection at every location. This is a hands-on, field-based role that rewards being present, following through, and using good judgment. The Market Security Operations Manager works closely with site and market security leaders, business partners, and vendor staff, bringing a practical sense of what strong performance looks like and the discipline to see corrective actions all the way through. The role is meant to take pressure off senior site security leaders rather than to supervise contract guard staff, manage schedules, or handle discipline. The right person combines solid operational knowledge of physical security with the people skills to influence outcomes without direct authority and is comfortable spending the day in active hospital settings, reading conditions on the ground, and turning standards and policy into steady, repeatable results at the site level. Position Context This position requires demonstrated healthcare experience as a core qualification. The successful candidate will bring an established understanding of hospital operations, clinical environment protocols, and Joint Commission regulatory standards, enabling them to integrate effectively and contribute immediately upon placement. A minimum of three to five years of direct healthcare security experience is required to be effective in this role. A Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) certification from IAHSS is considered a nice to have but is not a mandatory requirement. The ideal candidate should have working familiarity with LA, Orange, and San Diego counties to ensure they can navigate the region effectively. This individual must be capable of acting as a second in command, stepping in for security leaders at medical centers for up to a month at a time when vacancies arise. What This Role Is Not This is not a corporate security, retail loss prevention, or industrial security position. The role operates within a regulated healthcare environment governed by Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, and Environment of Care standards. This is not a contract guard management role. There is no supervision of vendor staff, scheduling, timekeeping, or discipline of contract officers. This is not an entry-level or developmental position. Direct healthcare security experience is required regardless of tenure in other security verticals. This is not a desk-based or remote role. It requires consistent physical presence across hospital and medical center locations. This is not a law enforcement or armed security position. There are no sworn authority, arrest powers, or use of force responsibilities. This is not a standalone site security director role. It supports and reinforces existing site and market leadership. This is not a technology or systems administration role. It does not involve designing, programming, or maintaining security platforms. This is not a consulting or advisory-only engagement. The role demands hands‑on execution, follow‑through, and the ability to step in as second in command at a medical center for extended periods. Scope of Work Provide on-site operational support across assigned facilities to validate daily security operations, reinforce expectations, and help resolve operational gaps Conduct audits, inspections, and site assessments to evaluate compliance with post orders, security standards, and regulatory requirements Identify performance trends and deficiencies and support site leadership in implementing corrective actions and improving operational consistency Assist with multi-site coordination, surge support, readiness activities, and operational stabilization during periods of elevated demand or changing conditions Support site readiness for regulatory and accreditation requirements, including TJC, OSHA, CMS, and Environment of Care standards Help implement security initiatives, system deployments, policy changes, and operational programs to ensure consistent execution at the site level Track audit findings, operational issues, and performance trends across facilities and provide actionable insights to support prioritization and resource planning Maintain broad operational knowledge across security disciplines and support market and site security leaders with execution-focused field support as needed Serve as a visible on-site partner who validates performance through direct observation, supports standardization, and escalates issues appropriately Basic Qualifications / Experience Bachelor's Degree in Law Enforcement, Business Administration, Public Policy, Healthcare Management, Criminal Justice, Corporate Security, Security Management, or related field Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience managing or leading a protective services workforce in a healthcare setting A minimum of three to five years of direct healthcare security experience is required to be effective in this role. Minimum 3 years of project or program management experience Minimum 2 years of experience managing operational or project budgets Valid driver's license in the applicable location Authorization to work in the U.S. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting multi-site operations, field-based quality assurance, or operational readiness programs Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards such as TJC, OSHA, CMS, and Environment of Care requirements Strong communication, relationship management, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to influence outcomes across diverse stakeholders Demonstrated ability to translate standards, policies, and procedures into consistent site‑level execution CPP, PSP, PMP, or similar professional certification Strong field presence with a bias for direct observation and validation Ownership focused with dependable follow‑through Sound judgment and composure under changing site conditions Ability to influence outcomes without direct authority Comfortable operating in active hospital and healthcare environments Practical, execution‑first mindset paired with attention to standards Work Environment and Travel This role is primarily field-based and requires regular travel between assigned facilities. The position involves work in hospital and healthcare environments, including areas with frequent public interaction and active operational demands. Schedule flexibility may be required to support operational needs, site visits, readiness activities, or urgent issues. Physical Requirements Ability to travel between sites, walk extensive distances, stand for extended periods, and conduct on‑site assessments in active operational environments. Must be able to review physical spaces, observe conditions, and respond appropriately to changing site needs.
