Shift Premium Job Summary A Truck Driver, or Transporter, is responsible for transporting goods from one location to another. Their job duties include loading their vehicles, abiding by traffic laws and ensuring safe unloading and delivery at their destination. Job Responsibilities Obeying and following applicable traffic laws Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle Maintaining a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations Ensuring any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving Planning routes and meeting delivery schedules Complying with truck driving rules and regulations Reporting defects, accidents and violations Performing daily maintenance of truck (refueling, cleaning, etc.) Loading and unloading box trucks with forklifts and pallet jacks Interacting with customers in a professional manner Performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection reports Verifying loads for accuracy All other assigned duties as required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Food manufacturing experience preferred but not required. Required Skills/Abilities Minimum two (2) years of experience Ability to safely inspect and operate trucks and equipment Thorough understanding of safe highway practices and motor vehicle regulations; comply with all DOT Driver regulations Must pass a DOT background check and drug screen Use of smartphone, laptop, and tablet technology Reliable and timely individual Ability to communicate clearly and effectively as well as maintain a professional collaboration with all partners Physical Requirements Moderate degree of physical activity on a frequent basis Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
