Urology Locums Opportunity - South Carolina

A high-acuity Level II Trauma Center in South Carolina near the Columbia metro area is seeking an experienced Urologist for an inpatient-only Uro-Hospitalist locums assignment. This is an excellent opportunity for a physician who thrives in a fast-paced trauma environment and is comfortable managing complex emergent urologic cases independently.

The facility is a nearly 600-bed regional referral center with a very busy inpatient service and robust surgical volume. Providers will function as the sole onsite Urologist during coverage periods and should be confident handling trauma, consultative, and operative responsibilities without additional Urology support onsite.

Responsibilities

The locum physician will provide comprehensive inpatient urologic coverage including:

• Daily hospital rounds
• ED and inpatient consults
• Emergency and urgent surgical intervention
• Trauma-related GU injuries and repairs
• General inpatient urologic procedures and operative management

Required Clinical Experience

Candidates must be fully comfortable managing:

• Open urologic trauma cases
• Gunshot and stab wound injuries involving kidneys, bladder, and testicles
• Bladder repair procedures
• Stone management and endourology
• Ureteral stents and catheter procedures
• Cystoscopies
• Testicular torsion cases (including pediatric)
• Hand-assisted laparoscopic nephrectomy
• Adrenal surgery
• Hernia repair
• Incidental appendectomy procedures

Provider Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Urology
• Active South Carolina medical license
• Active CSR
• DEA permanently registered in South Carolina
• Comfortable working independently as the sole onsite Urologist
• Trauma experience strongly preferred

Schedule & Coverage Need

Current open coverage:

• December 24 - January 4

Coverage consists primarily of:

• 24-hour call shifts
• Inpatient rounding
• Surgical and trauma response coverage

Orientation Requirements

All new locum providers are required to complete a half-day onsite orientation prior to their first shift. Orientation must occur Monday through Friday and cannot be completed on weekends or holidays. The facility prefers orientation to occur the day before the first scheduled shift when possible.
