Primary Services is actively recruiting for a Trading Accountant to support a major player in the energy trading industry. This is a great opportunity for a finance or accounting professional with deep knowledge of trading operations and a drive for process optimization. You’ll work across departments—Middle Office, Tax, Operations, and Audit—to ensure deal accuracy, support IFRS reporting, and provide financial insight into complex commodity transactions. Responsibilities Review trading system outputs and collaborate with Operations to ensure accurate deal capture and ERP uploads. Analyze profitability and explain variances in trading desk results. Review accruals, invoices, and PL accuracy for the shipping business. Reconcile inter-company balances and support quarterly reporting requirements. Respond to SOX and audit-related inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses. Assist with transfer pricing analysis in coordination with Tax and External Contractors. Support ad hoc accounting functions, including journal entries, vendor setups, and expense reviews. Mentor junior team members and review journal entries and reconciliations. Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives and automation projects. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. 5–8 years of relevant experience in the energy commodity marketing or trading industry. CPA or active progress toward CPA certification strongly preferred. Strong understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP, with a focus on mark-to-market accounting. Experience with general ledger, trial balance, financial statements, and reconciliations. Familiarity with SOX compliance and audit procedures. Proficiency with ERP systems and digital tools such as PowerBI, VBA, and Python is a plus. Ability to work overtime during peak periods. Want to be notified of similar positions?
