NP/PA – Cardiovascular Surgery | Christus Ochsner Health – Lake Charles, LA. We are seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join our dedicated team at St. Patrick Hospital. The role collaborates with two other NPs and board‑certified cardiothoracic surgeons performing heart, lung, and foregut/esophageal procedures, including TAVR, robotic da Vinci thoracic surgery, and minimally invasive cardiac surgeries. Responsibilities Assist in cardiovascular and thoracic cases, including endoscopic vessel harvesting, vein harvesting for CABG, and valve surgeries. Perform outpatient ambulatory visits and hospital rounding, including pre‑operative and post‑operative evaluations. Diagnose and treat conditions, providing follow‑up care as needed. Conduct invasive procedures (with training), such as central vascular access, Swan‑Ganz insertion, chest tube insertion, and endoscopic vessel harvesting. Perform comprehensive history and physical exams, assess new consults and hospital admissions. Participate in 24/7 coverage, rotating shifts, shared call (1 in 3 calls), night shifts and weekends. Collaborate positively with multidisciplinary care teams, patients, and families, demonstrating emotional intelligence in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment. Maintain BLS and ACLS certifications and an active Louisiana PA license or eligibility. Requirements Minimum: 5 years of cardiac surgical experience. Current BLS and ACLS certifications. Active Louisiana PA license or eligibility to be licensed. Hospital and ambulatory experience preferred. Experience with robotic surgery an advantage; training will be provided. ICU and telemetry experience preferred.
