Medical Receptionist

As the primary point of contact for billing inquiries, you'll handle incoming calls with courtesy and professionalism, helping patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers with questions about balances, claims, payments, and account details. Your attention to detail and communication skills will keep billing operations running smoothly, supporting the administrative functions that keep healthcare moving forward.
Medical Receptionist Key responsibilities include:
- Answering and directing all billing-related phone calls courteously and efficiently
- Assisting patients with questions on account balances, payments, insurance issues, and statements
- Reviewing patient accounts and providing accurate billing details
- Confirming insurance and demographic data as needed
- Documenting all interactions and account updates in the billing system
- Escalating complex issues to specialized billing staff or supervisors
- Processing phone payments according to office protocols
- Returning voicemails promptly and professionally
- Upholding patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Communicating effectively with physicians' offices, insurers, and patients
- Assisting with administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and updating patient records
- Supporting other departmental duties as assigned
- Prior experience in a medical office, billing, or customer service setting preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal capabilities
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a busy environment
- Keen attention to detail and organizational skills
- Pay is based on experience between $17-19/hr
